Colour - How to Create The Perfect Home

It is a well-known fact that colour can influence the way you think and feel, making it extremely important to think wisely when introducing colour in your home. Take a look at some of these useful tips to ensure you create the atmosphere and mood you desire:

  • If you want to get conversation flowing at home, then paint your walls red. On the other hand, navy blue will stop chitchat in its tracks.
  • If all you want to do after a long day at work is to come home and relax, then choose colours such as purple or blue, which will help you unwind. If getting the kids to calm down at the end of the day is high on your agenda then green makes a good choice for a child's bedroom - but avoid red or yellow at all costs!
  • For a warming effect, opt for brown or orange.
  • Choose red for your kitchen if you want to enhance appetite. But, avoid grey or green, which can put someone off their food.
  • If you have a dark room, then choose light colours such as orange. Avoid black or brown. Equally, for very bright rooms avoid very light colours that could make them overbearing.
  • Do you work from home? Paint your office white - it will help focus your thoughts.
