Lighting Tips For A Guy's Apartment

When doing a makeover for a guy’s space, there are a few things to remember. One, there should be lots of storage. This will help avoid clutter and encourage him to place his things in the right places. Shelves, boxes, and drawers are a basic necessity. Next, use solid colors instead of patterns to maintain the minimalist, masculine look. Men like it simple, so forget about stripes and checks and keep things in plain neutral colours such as black, grey, white, navy, and shades of brown.

Floor Lamp

When planning what lighting to use for a man’s home, there are a lot of light fixtures you can choose from. However, to be consistent with the manly atmosphere that you would like to achieve, black light fixtures would be a great choice. Here are some examples of simple yet bold masculine light fixtures that are sure to make every guy’s abode impressive:

Chandeliers

Chandeliers are not confined to ornate traditional homes. There are several designs that may be incorporated in a man’s house and black ones, regardless of style, would look very elegant and still masculine when placed in his living room, dining room, and even bedroom.

Ceiling Pendants

If you prefer a simpler source of illumination instead of a chandelier, a ceiling pendant would be as ornate but would require less light bulbs and are simpler in form and more modern. A ceiling pendant would be better for smaller spaces and can be placed in the living room, dining room, and bedroom to provide ambient lighting and also serve as a great conversation piece.

Mini Ceiling Pendants

These are great for placing on both sides of the bed to save space on your bedside desks or drawers, also for your bath vanity, and in a row of twos or more for a kitchen island or a dining table. You may choose to have a row of mini pendants with the same style and size or be more adventurous and mix different yet complementary designs in monochrome black.

Flush and Semi Flush Mounts

For apartments with low ceilings, there are flush mounts and semi flush lights that are also ornate yet are mounted very close to the ceiling so that there are no obstructions when people are walking around the room.
Semi-Flush Mounts

A flush mount is attached to the ceiling, while a semi-flush light fixture has a small gap, so it hangs a little like a ceiling pendant but the distance from the light and the ceiling is much shorter.

Island Lighting

Keep the kitchen in line with the over masculinity of his home by adding an island lighting fixture in black. The kitchen island is not just used for cooking preparations, but is also a place where work or home projects are done, so it is important to keep this spot consistent with the rest of the home’s interior design.

Floor Lamps

Floor lamps allow you to add task lighting without the hassle of mounting it to the ceiling or the wall. They are also versatile and can be moved from one spot to another, making it very easy for him to change its position whenever the need arises.

Table Lamps

Also as mobile and versatile as floor lamps, table lamps make it very easy to add lighting without having to hire an expert or devote time to install the fixture. Primarily serves as task lighting, a table lamp is also a great ornamental piece that adds elegance and charm to a room.

If he usually spends a lot of time on his desk, there may be a need to add a desk lamp to ensure that there is adequate illumination for the work and reading that is being done on this desk. Keep it very personal and masculine with a black minimalist desk lamp that is slim enough to allow more important items to be placed on the desk without looking cluttered.

Designing a man’s home is not very difficult, so long as you stick to the basics. Keep it all aligned with his masculinity by adding simple items and lighting fixtures in neutral tones all throughout the house.
